I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but there is also a chemical very similar to the one in catnip, that is in olives. I love green olives, and I always wondered why, whenever I opened a jar, my cats wanted an olive. They would never eat it, but would play with it, rub on it, maybe bite it a couple times, and generally act like they did with catnip. A year or so ago, I read something in an animal care journal, that discussed the similarity of the naturally occurring chemical that was in olives, that was very similar to catnip. And now I understand why my cats always wanted to steal my olives.😸
