Hungry Phoebe Nestlings

Phoebe nestlings

The phoebe babies are growing fast, but are still in the nest, expecting to be fed. After my controversial comment about Wood Thrush song last month, I hunted down a few bird call resources on the Web. Here are the ones I found most usable.

Hi,
Just found this blog--actually did a search for phoebe nestlings and found you!
I have phoebes nesting in my barn and I'm wondering about approaching them for photos. Don't want the fact that they're now almost ready to fledge to mean they'll jump, if I scare them.
How close were you for this picture? And, did it seem to spook them?

Hi, Suzy, thanks for visiting!

Nina, I was standing on the ground, almost under the nest, which was about 10 feet off the ground. We walk in and out of the shed daily, so the pheobes were used to our presence from the time they built the nest. They were blase about the photographs. Good luck with your pictures!
