What puzzles us is that the cherry trees are covered with fruit but this bear has preferred to delicately lick sunflower seeds a few at a time off the feeder. The only damage he's done is when those huge claws snag the feeder when would-be photographers scare him.
In past years, other bird feeders (including hummingbird feeders) have been efficiently smashed and licked clean.
This is why we stop feeding birds in April. Apparently, sunflower seeds are like bear catnip.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!
ReplyDeleteThat's a little tooooo close for me!
So this is not a matter of bears being hungry but of bears in search of a treat?
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
